ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod
The ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (ICAR-CPCRI), Kasaragod, established in 1916, is one of the premier horticulture research institutes under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi; mandated to work on coconut, arecanut, cocoa and palmyrah. The Institute has two Regional Stations (Kayamkulam in Kerala and Vittal in Karnataka) and three Regional Centres (Kidu in Karnataka, Kahikuchi in Assam and Mohitnagar in West Bengal). The Institute also holds the International Coconut Gene Bank for South Asia & Middle East at Kidu. The All India Coordinated Research Project on Plantation Crops operates in CPCRI with 28 centres in 14 states to validate technologies developed by the Institute. Two Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Kasaragod & Alappuzha) conduct agricultural extension activities.
The research programmes of the institute are organized under five divisions viz. Crop Improvement, Crop Production, Crop Protection, Physiology, Biochemistry and Post Harvest Technology, and Social Sciences.
